Castro Theatre Owner Messes With a Good Thing

DJ One F Jef interviews accomplished filmmaker and fired Castro Theatre employee - Christian Bruno.

According to staff, the Castro Theatre is in serious trouble. The new owner of the business has made drastic staffing cuts and has fired a very accomplished and respected programmer - Anita Monga. Christian Bruno was recently fired from the theatre and he describes the nature of the Castro Theatre: it's origins and role in the community of the Castro. It has a special place in the hearts of independent filmmakers, festival directors, movie-goers and many others who have grown to love the unique and excellent programming that Anita has consistently brought to the Castro.

Their discussion also veers off into related topics: the automobile and the mall culture of America, the warehousing of elderly people, the writings of Mike Davis, bad urban planning, the soundtrack of the recently released DVD, Wattstax ... etc.
